We took the hearts out of the corner of the screen and put them in the fox's paws.
Early builds had three hearts in the corner. Nobody looked at them.
So we moved your health into the world: the ember in the lantern. Get hurt and it dims, and the forest around you gets darker. Rest at a shrine and it glows again. Players stopped checking the corner and started protecting the light.
It also means there’s no game over screen. When the ember goes out, you wake at the last shrine and the way back is just a little longer.
Meow! I'm the studio cat. Ask me about Moss & Ember, platforms, the supporter edition or press keys.

It runs on your own Anthropic API key: add ANTHROPIC_API_KEY to your site's environment and redeploy. No key is included with the template, and this demo does not provide one.
